I have about 30 years of experience working as an occupational therapist and / or manager and in 2006 I completed my post graduate Diploma in Performance Coaching. Subsequently I have worked as a coach with people from a range of occupations and organisations.

I believe that people have the resources within themselves to create successful and lasting solutions. At certain points in their lives people can benefit from working with a coach who supports, challenges and enables them to focus on what is important to them, and to set meaningful achievable goals. I use a range of coaching models and approaches to facilitate this, dependent on the individual’s needs and goals.

I am interested to work with OTs from any field of practice, especially those that work with young people and am also interested in the use of coaching as a tool to enable people to become more proactive in the self-management of long term conditions.

As an OT,  I predominantly worked within the NHS but I have also worked within education, independent and voluntary sectors. This has been within the fields of mental health, forensic services, specific learning difficulties, physical illness and vocational rehabilitation. In my various roles I have worked children, young people, adults and families. In addition to clinical work, my managerial experience includes: project management; research; senior management; organisational, service and workforce development and performance coaching.

Since being made redundant in 20I2 I have worked predominantly as an independent practitioner providing consultancy, mentoring and coaching services. Facilitating learning and change, and enabling people to acquire the skills and competencies that they need to help them cope more effectively with the challenges of life they face, have been key themes throughout my career.

I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT) and the following BOAT special interest groups: mental health, work, children young people and families and independent practice. I also have an Affiliate Professional membership with Professional Association of Teachers and Assessors of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties. Since graduating I have continued to develop my coaching knowledge and skills.
